Should you have any questions\, please reach out to Lauren Umbdenstock at lumbdenstock@durhamchamber.org.\n\n\nPrivilege for Sale\n\n\n\nPrivilege is the benefits and advantages held by a group in power\, or in a majority\, that arise because of the oppression and suppression of minority groups.  Examples of privilege includes but are not limited to age\, religion\, ability\, gender identity\, race\, class\, sexuality\, gender\, and education.  Understanding privilege required an active effort to see things from the perspective of other\, underprivileged people.\n\n\n\nJoin us for a hands-on workshop featuring Torri A. Staton PhD\, VP of Diversity\, Equity\, & Inclusivity\, Raleigh Chamber of Commerce\, Triangle DEI Alliance\, as she discusses the intersectionality of privilege and how to acknowledge our own privilege and other.\n\n\n\n\nTORRI A. STATON\, Ph.D is currently VP of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusivity at the Raleigh Chamber.  She also teaches a course on Race\, Racism\, and Racial Equity at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She is a Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusivity professional and an equity-focused scholar who has used narrative analyses to study the social and cultural intertwining of Racial Identity\, American education\, and American popular culture.  It is her goal that all things to lead toward justice.  Prior to her current roles\, she served in a variety of capacities including as a Teacher\, Advisor\, Retention Counselor\, Mentor\, Higher Education administrator\, and Professor.  She is a daughter\, a sister\, a friend\, a dog mom\, a music enthusiast\, and an avid film watcher.  She resides in Durham\, North Carolina.
