SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting - Food Bank
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce along with the Board of Directors and staff of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina in celebrating the opening of its newest branch expansion in Durham. From Ramseur Street to Gilbert Street to Angier Avenue\, the Food Bank has grown and expanded in Durham since first opening in 1999. \n\n\n\nA ceremonial Ribbon Cutting will be held on Thursday\, April 10th at 10:00 am at: \n\n\n\n2700 Angier Avenue\n\nDurham\, NC\n\n\n\nCake and refreshments will be served following the ceremony. \n\n\n\nToday the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties in central and eastern North Carolina for more than 30 years. The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens\, food pantries\, shelters and programs for children and adults through distribution centers in Durham\, Greenville\, New Bern\, Raleigh\, the SandHills (Southern Pines)\, and Wilmington. In fiscal year 2012-2013\, the Food Bank distributed nearly 52 million pounds of food and non-food essentials through these agencies. Sadly\, hunger remains a serious problem in central and eastern North Carolina. In these counties\, more than 560\,000 struggle each day to provide enough food for their families.
