Attorney General Roy Cooper
Attorney General Roy Cooper was born and raised in Nash County, where he attended public schools and worked summers on the family farm. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill on a Morehead Scholarship and went on to earn his law degree there.
He was elected to his 4th term in 2012, and served in the legislature where he led public safety initiatives and worked to increase teacher pay and reduce class sizes.
As Attorney General, he has protected people and businesses from fraud, and has made consumer protection a priority, fighting to keep utility rates low, put predatory lenders out of business, and cracking down on Medicaid fraud.
Attorney General Cooper lives in Raleigh with his wife, Kristin, and has three daughters.
