DESCRIPTION:The Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce is proud to host the Fifth Annual Durham First Responders Appreciation Breakfast at the Durham Convention Center. This community event is aimed at acknowledging the commitment of the men and women serving Durham and the surrounding areas. The 2018 event will celebrate and recognize first responders serving the City of Durham\, Durham County\, Duke University\, North Carolina Central University\, Durham Technical Community College\, along with North Carolina State Highway Patrol\, and the National Guard - 15 divisions in total. Join us for this opportunity to say\, "thank you."\n\n\n\nThe event will be hosted by ABC11's Amber Rupinta with featured speaker\, John Cerqueira\, locally based 9/11 survivor.\n\n\n\nJohn Cerqueira escaped from the 81st floor of the first tower of the World Trade Center\, saving\, in tandem with his boss Mike\, a woman named Tina who was confined to a wheelchair\, from the 68th floor. His story was told in the book\, Hero Sandwich and he has been featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show\," "Good Morning America\," USA Today\, and People Magazine\, as well as features in local publications. \n\n\n\nFor every seat sold\, the attendance of a first responder will be sponsored.
