2011 Chamber U: - Aug 10- Using technology to help your business be successful
How many of you are trying to improve your “bottom line”? Are you looking at your results monthly? What are you looking at? Many existing small business entrepreneurs have never really come up with a “numbers plan” for their business – they just wish to “make more money” and couldn’t even tell me what their gross margin was last year. If you looked at last year’s Profit & Loss Statement in Excel and determined that you wish to do better this year, why not sit down and put a “monthly P&L Plan for 2011” and see if you can improve upon it. You will eventually learn to better manage and control your sales, your cost of goods sold, your gross margin, your business expenses, and finally your net margin so you can begin to make a good living.
Presentation by John Wyman, SCORE Volunteer
John Wyman has taught “The Fast Entrepreneur” at Durham Tech for the last 8 years, teaching the 10-week high tech course twice a year. It is excellent for existing businesses and complemented with online learning from Kauffman. Let’s get with it and use some technologies to better run our small businesses!
